The Derby, KS Alexander-Garret VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 7253 was chartered on December 3, 1955.
We had a total of 81 members at the time the post was chartered.
In 1966, the Derby post was rated 15th in the national in the Loyalty Day contests competition.
In the latter part of 1969, we purchased the building and land we are currently occupying which was the original United States Post Office.
On November 26, 1963, the post was issued a perpetual charter for having at least 25 lifetime members.
Our post is proud to have been a All State Post for two out of the past three years.
In 2005, the post changed it's name to the Derby VFW Post 7253.



The current veterian membership is 654 of which 478 are lifetime members.
Today our membership includes the Men's Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Riders.
Post 7253 is very community minded and is involved in many civic activities.
